Reconocida internacionalmente por sus contribuciones al estudio de la enfermedad cardiovascular y cardiometab\u00f3lica<\/strong>, su estudio se centra en la aterosclerosis, la trombosis y las enfermedades isqu\u00e9micas. Es la Directora de la \u201cUNESCO Chair in Biomedical Sciences Training and Research\u201d y la vicepresidenta de Relaciones Cient\u00edficas en la \u201cEuropean Society of Cardiology\u201d (ESC). Profesor de Investigaci\u00f3n Ikerbasque en el Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n Cooperativa en Biociencias (CIC bioGune)<\/p>\n

Tras doctorarse en Bioqu\u00edmica y Biolog\u00eda Molecular en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, complet\u00f3 su postdoctorado en MSKCC (NY) y BIDMC (Boston). En 2010, estableci\u00f3 su l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n en CIC bioGUNE, centrada en el estudio del metabolismo de las c\u00e9lulas cancerosas<\/strong>. Desde 2011 es Profesor de Investigaci\u00f3n Ikerbasque, desde 2012, Profesor Asociado y, desde 2024, Cient\u00edfico Distinguido en la Universidad del Pa\u00eds Vasco. Director cient\u00edfico del Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares (CNIC)<\/p>\n

Doctor en Medicina por la Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid, compagina su labor en CNIC con su trabajo como cardi\u00f3logo en el Hospital Fundaci\u00f3n Jim\u00e9nez D\u00edaz y jefe de grupo en el CIBER de enfermedades cardiovasculares (CIBERCV). Especialista en enfermedades del miocardio<\/strong>, centra su investigaci\u00f3n en el infarto agudo de miocardio, la insuficiencia card\u00edaca y la cardiotoxicidad asociada al tratamiento oncol\u00f3gicos. Su liderazgo como presidente de las gu\u00edas de pr\u00e1ctica cl\u00ednica para el tratamiento del infarto agudo de miocardio por la Sociedad Europea de Cardiolog\u00eda fue clave para definir estrategias en la lucha contra el infarto.<\/p>\n

Fundador y presidente de la Fundaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola Hipercolesterolemia Familiar<\/p>\n

Especialista en Medicina Interna, ejerci\u00f3 como jefe asociado de Medicina Interna del Hospital Universitario de la Fundaci\u00f3n Jim\u00e9nez D\u00edaz hasta 2013. Su investigaci\u00f3n se centra en el estudio epidemiol\u00f3gico, cl\u00ednico y molecular de la hipercolesterolemia familiar (HF). Adem\u00e1s, tambi\u00e9n es presidente de la Red Iberoamericana de Hipercolesterolemia Familiar. Es el director del estudio prospectivo de una cohorte de HF en Espa\u00f1a (SAFEHEART), un programa dise\u00f1ado para conocer los factores pron\u00f3sticos que influyen en el desarrollo de la enfermedad coronaria y la mortalidad en pacientes con diagn\u00f3stico gen\u00e9tico de HF.<\/p>\n

Profesora del Departamento de Inmunolog\u00eda y Microbiolog\u00eda en la Facultad de Medicina en la Universidad de Colorado<\/p>\n

Doctora en Biomedicina por la Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid, realiz\u00f3 su postdoctorado en Yale University School of Medicine. Es una inmun\u00f3loga<\/strong> mundialmente reconocida con experiencia en campos de la investigaci\u00f3n como, entre otros, las alergias, el asma y la artritis. Ha publicado 168 art\u00edculos en revistas como Science, Immunity y Nature Communications<\/em>, y ha colaborado en numerosos paneles del National Institute of Health (NIH). Es la inventora de 8 patentes. Adem\u00e1s, es co-fundadora de la startup Mitotherapeutix.<\/p>\n

Jefa de grupo en el Centro nacional de Investigaciones Oncol\u00f3gicas (CNIO)<\/p>\n

Doctora en Bioqu\u00edmica por el Medical Research Council, ejerci\u00f3 como investigadora asociada en la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Massachusetts (Estados Unidos), hasta que en 2009 regres\u00f3 a Espa\u00f1a con un contrato Ram\u00f3n y Cajal para estudiar enfermedades asociadas a la obesidad<\/strong>. En 2011, se uni\u00f3 como investigadora principal en el CNIC y desde 2024, dirige el Grupo de Interacci\u00f3n entre las Enfermedades Metab\u00f3licas en el CNIO. Su foco de investigaci\u00f3n explora c\u00f3mo la disfunci\u00f3n metab\u00f3lica y la inflamaci\u00f3n cr\u00f3nica derivadas de la obesidad desencadenan enfermedades como la diabetes, el c\u00e1ncer y las enfermedades cardiovasculares.<\/p>\n

Jefe de grupo de investigaci\u00f3n del Institut d\u2019Investigaci\u00f3 Biom\u00e8dica de Girona (IDIBGI)<\/p>\n

Doctor en Qu\u00edmica Computacional por la Universitat de Barcelona, se especializ\u00f3 en Biolog\u00eda de Sistemas y Ciencias \u00d3micas durante estancias postdoctorales en las universidades de Reading e Imperial College London, donde investig\u00f3 los efectos cardioprotectores de los \u00e1cidos grasos omega-3 y el papel del microbioma en la malnutrici\u00f3n. Tras liderar proyectos en EURECAT sobre polifenoles y salud metab\u00f3lica, en 2019 se incorpor\u00f3 al Instituto de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica de Girona (IDIBGI). Desde 2024 dirige el grupo de Medicina y Biolog\u00eda de Sistemas Integrativos, centrando su investigaci\u00f3n en la comunicaci\u00f3n microbiota-cerebro, la obesidad, la cognici\u00f3n y la salud mental y metab\u00f3lica.<\/p>\n

Licenciada en Biolog\u00eda por la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela y doctora en Fisiolog\u00eda y Alimentaci\u00f3n por la Universidad de Navarra, lidera el grupo de Epigen\u00f3mica en Endocrinolog\u00eda y Nutrici\u00f3n en el Instituto de Investigaci\u00f3n Sanitaria de Santiago (IDIS) y en el CIBER de Fisiopatolog\u00eda de la Obesidad y Nutrici\u00f3n (CIBERobn). Es profesora en el programa de doctorado de Endocrinolog\u00eda de la USC adem\u00e1s de editora asociada y miembro de varios comit\u00e9s editoriales. Su investigaci\u00f3n analiza c\u00f3mo la alimentaci\u00f3n y el estado nutricional influyen en la salud mediante mecanismos epigen\u00e9ticos, especialmente en obesidad, c\u00e1ncer y comorbilidades asociadas.<\/p>\n
