Zhu Wang wins the 71st editionof the Maria Canals Competition
Pianist Zhu Wang has won the Fundación Occident First Prize, becoming the winner of the 71st edition of the Maria Canals International Competition. Wang trained at The Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute under the tutelage of mentors and teachers such as Emanuel Ax and Robert McDonald.
His career includes milestones such as the First Prize at Young Concert Artists (2020) and the Gold Medal at the New Orleans Competition (2024), establishing himself as one of the most outstanding figures of his generation.
Praised by The New York Times for his sensitivity, he has made successful debuts on stages such as the New York Youth Symphony at Carnegie Hall and at the Terrace Theater of the Kennedy Center. In addition to his solo career, his work in chamber music and his collaborations with renowned artists stand out, demonstrating an artistic maturity that has opened the doors of the world's great auditoriums to him.
In the 27/28 season he will be the soloist for the Fundación Occident concerts in Bilbao, Madrid, Seville and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
