Álex Graneri: Spanishkayak sprint talent
Álex Graneri (Palma de Mallorca, 23 February 2003) is one of the most outstanding Spanish kayak sprinters. Since his beginnings at the Real Club Náutico de Palma, Graneri has demonstrated exceptional talent that has led him to become a junior world champion and a medalist in European and world competitions.
Since 2024, Fundación Occident has supported Álex in his desire to consolidate a career within a discipline that is still a minority sport in Spain, but which has brought about many additions to the national medal count.
Graneri started kayaking by chance, but soon became a key figure in this sporting discipline. He trained at the La Cartuja High Performance Centre (Seville) and is currently part of the Olympic team in Trasona (Asturias), preparing his path towards the long-awaited Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Sporting achievements:
- 2025: Two bronze medals at the World Championships (K1 500m and K4 500m) and a silver medal at the European Championships (K1 500m).
- 2024: Bronze in the European Championships (K4 1000m).
- 2023: World runner-up in the under-23 category in K4 500m and bronze medalist in K1 500m.
- 2022: Bronze in the European Under-23 Championships (K1 1000m).
- 2021: Double junior world champion (K1 1000m and K1 500m) and European runner-up.
