Ania Setién: the new face of Spanish badminton

Ania Setién (San Sebastián, 2003) has become one of the emerging badminton talents in Spain. With a career marked by consistency and talent, she has gone from standing out in national tournaments to shining in international competitions.

In 2023, she received the Gipuzkoa Kirolak prize for her role in winning the European club title with Matex Marabadminton. Her playstyle is based around consistency in play, composure in decisive moments, and impeccable physical preparation.

Since 2024, Fundación Occident has supported Ania in her desire to consolidate a career within a discipline that is still a minority sport in Spain, but which has brought about many additions to the national medal count.

After overcoming a hamstring injury, Ania declared 'I'll be back on court in no time, giving it my all.' And that is exactly what happened, as she continues with her goal of growing on the international circuit and getting closer to the next Olympic Games.
