Jaeden Izik-Durko, pianist and winner of the 67th edition of the Maria Canals International Competition gave a concert in Tenerife on 7 June 2024.
Jaeden Izik-Durko, a Canadian pianist born in Salmon Arm (British Columbia), has been recognised by the public, directors and composers for his exceptional musical communicative power and the reflection of his interpretations.
In 2017, in honour of the 150th anniversary of Canada, Jaeden presented his successful solo recital of works written exclusively by Canadian composers. His performance of the Ernst Schneider Romantic Piano Concert with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra was recorded live in 2019 for publication in a CD of Canadian concerts. As the recipient of the Sylva Gelber Music Foundation 2020 award, Jaeden thanks the support of the Sylva Gelber Music Foundation and the Canada Council for the Arts.
In addition to his achievements as a pianist, he has also won:
- Grand Prize at the Federation of Canadian Music Festivals' National Competition.
- Third prize in the Juilliard Gina Bachauer Scholarship Competition
- The Peter Takács Classical Sonata award at the Hilton Head International Piano Competition
- The Cochran International Piano Competition
