Fundación Occident, Spain and UNHCRCollaborate for youth and children

Fundación Occident and the Spanish UNHCR Committee join forces to improve the education of refugee children and youth

After years of supporting the DAFI scholarship programme promoted by UNHCR for refugee and returned university students worldwide, Fundación Occident and the Spanish UNHCR Committee recently strengthened their strategic alliance by signing a three-year partnership agreement. Through the UNHCR Primary Impact programme, the UN Refugee Agency supports primary education and retention in refugee children in Zimbabwe.

Although Fundación Occident and Spain with UNHCR have been working closely for years, they now want to move forward in a new line of work through this new collaboration, where the focus will be to offer a better future for refugee children.

Joint partnerships with strategic partners such as this are of vital importance for UNHCR's work to forge lasting solutions for refugees and address the consequences of forced displacement.

Some of those who finish studies at the school can access public universities, specifically through the DAFI scholarships programme run by UNHCR, and with which Fundación Occident has been collaborating in recent years as a sign of its deep commitment to help access new opportunities as regards education and social and health care.
