Right to education among the most vulnerable children

In Spain, there are various school, family and social factors that influence access to education for girls and boys.

The growing situation of vulnerability and exclusion experienced by many families is more severely affecting children of school age. In the country, children who are at a lower economic disadvantage have a lower school performance compared to their classmates who come from more privileged households. In addition, the low level of literacy is associated with low wages and unemployment.

Fundación Occident is collaborating with Save the Children on the programme "Guaranteeing the right to education among the most vulnerable children", a social and educational intervention within Save the Children's Child Poverty action programme.

This programme aims to achieve several objectives: prevent educational failure, promote educational development and reduce the educational divide. In addition, a series of cross-cutting themes are being actively worked on within each Save the Children intervention, such as child participation, gender equality, violence prevention and community action.

To do this, Save the Children has educators committed to their educational work, with a special sensitivity to working with vulnerable people and with a high capacity for developing positive relationships and creating healthy emotional bonds, essential aspects to be able to successfully develop projects such as this.
