Winter sports experience for family members of employees and brokers
Fundación Occident, in partnership with the Aran Inclusive Sports Centre (CDIA), is organising a free sports experience for disabled family members of GCO employees and brokers. The ski resort of Baqueira Beret is the idyllic setting for skiing, a sport that is perfectly accessible to anyone, it is just a matter of having the right equipment and the right staff and trainer to learn how to use it.
Skiing provides an incredible sensation of freedom, and allows people with disabilities to normalise the practice of this sport, and also to enjoy nature and the mountains. The physical and personal benefits of winter sports are infinite and help us to strengthen self-esteem, increase motivation and, in the case of athletes with disabilities (DPD), to promote inclusivity while preserving the principle of equal opportunities. In short, it is a unique opportunity to increase autonomy through sport. Sharing this activity with family members and other people with disabilities is a unique experience in a wonderful natural environment.
The 2025 edition will be held from 26 to 30 March.
During the course of the winter sports experience in Baqueira Beret, a total of 44 people (22 participants and 22 companions) carry out all kinds of activities related to skiing and snow.
The aim of the experience is to introduce participants to winter sports, whether alpine skiing, snowboarding or cross-country skiing. But not only this, they also have the opportunity to visit the beautiful surroundings of the Aran Valley, taste its exquisite gastronomy and meet elite athletes with disabilities from the CDIA team who share their experiences, trajectories and future challenges with the participants.
